It started with a simple idea.

To see how one piece could be worn, lived in, and captured, by different women, in different places, in their own way.

So we sent one dress around Australia,  passing it from photographer to photographer, from one woman to the next, each bringing their own light, their own story, their own way of seeing.

No strict brief. No over-styling.
Just a piece designed to move, to adapt, and to be worn in whatever felt right.

What came back wasn’t just a collection of images.
It was proof of something we’ve always believed:

That the right piece doesn’t define the moment,
it becomes part of it.

This is what it became, in different hands.

Stop 2 - Nicola Mcdey Photography

The next stop was with gorgeous photographer Nic McDey based in Adelaide. Nic’s work tugs at your heart strings and she bring so much emotion to her work.

She captured the satin Illoura in a soft garden setting, where a mother and daughter moved together with an ease that felt both intimate and natural. Surrounded by tall grasses and muted greens, the scene feels calm and grounded, allowing their connection to take the focus.

One of the things we love most about the Travelling Dress project is seeing how the same piece can feel completely different in every photographer's hands. With Nic, the Illoura became part of a story about motherhood, connection and presence.

There is something timeless about these images, and we are so grateful to have Nic as part of this travelling dress project.

Designed in Australia in limited runs, the Illoura Satin has become one of Co & Ry’s most-loved pieces for maternity photoshoots, motherhood sessions, and meaningful moments worth remembering. The satin catches light beautifully while still feeling soft, fluid, and easy to wear. With adjustable wrap ties and flowing fabric, the Illoura is intentionally versatile. Worn on or off the shoulder, layered over swimwear, styled barefoot at the beach or dressed up for golden hour, every photographer in this project interpreted it differently.

And that was the point.

Because the best pieces aren’t the ones worn once for a photo.
They’re the ones that become tied to memories afterwards.
