It started with a simple idea.

To see how one piece could be worn, lived in, and captured, by different women, in different places, in their own way.

So we sent one dress around Australia,  passing it from photographer to photographer, from one woman to the next, each bringing their own light, their own story, their own way of seeing.

No strict brief. No over-styling.
Just a piece designed to move, to adapt, and to be worn in whatever felt right.

What came back wasn’t just a collection of images.
It was proof of something we’ve always believed:

That the right piece doesn’t define the moment,
it becomes part of it.

This is what it became, in different hands.

Stop 6 - Astrid Elizabeth Photography

The Travelling Dress has now made its way to Newcastle, NSW.

For Stop 6, the Illoura Satin found its way into the hands of photographer and mother, Astrid from Astrid Elizabeth Photography, whose work feels beautifully aligned with everything this project was created to celebrate. Astrid has become one of my most loved photographers. Her work is magic. Astrid manages to capture the most subtle moments that you know you will cherish forever and her work is art. So I knew I HAD to have Astrid in our Travelling Dress project, because the Illoura in her hands would be the perfect story.

Soft, flowing and completely at home amongst the grass fields, the satin caught the light beautifully while still feeling understated. The wrap bodice framed her growing bump, while the full skirt moved with every step through the field.

Nothing felt overly styled.

Nothing felt forced.

Just a woman, a season of life worth remembering, and a dress that quietly supported the story.

What I love most about these images is how effortless they feel.

The Illoura doesn't compete for attention.

It simply becomes part of the story.

Wrapped around a growing bump.

Flowing through the grass.

Caught in the golden light.

Standing alongside someone you love.

These are the kinds of images that remind us why photographers continue to choose the Illoura for maternity photography sessions, motherhood portraits and family photoshoots, year after year.

Not because it's trendy.

Not because it's new.

Because it photographs beautifully, adapts to different bodies and seasons, and allows the focus to remain exactly where it should be: on the people wearing it.

A huge thank you to Astrid for being part of The Travelling Dress and sharing her beautiful work with our community.

If you're based in Newcastle or the surrounding areas and looking for a photographer who captures motherhood with warmth, honesty and intention, we highly recommend taking a look at her work.
