Louise 'Lou' Aldis caught our eye on the gram with her soft light photography and perfectly captured shots of her little family. Her work is magic, something her kids will cherish for years to come, but not only her kids, the gorgeous families Lou now captures for others through her photography business, an outlet which she discovered later.
Lou used her time in motherhood to inspire new paths, something we are are passionate about at Co & Ry. Motherhood doesn't mean your passions stop, it can offer mean they pave a new you, and Lou is the essence of this. With Lou being a natural creative, and like many mums looking to keep her creativity a float, Lou pursued small ventures along the way, leading her to what now is her passion.
I interviewed Lou for our 'At Home with' series this Mother's Day to learn more about her career, motherhood and life with Lou...discovering we have something in common with a good trip to Bunnings. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did getting to know her.

Tell us a bit about you? Where are you from? Who’s in your family?
My hubby Dave and I met in Orange NSW, we then moved up to the Gold Coast QLD together and started our family. We have Harrison who is 7, Hazel is 5 and little Hallie is now 2!
We are now working, raising our kiddies and renovating our home!

Can you tell us more about your background and how you came to start photography?
So prior to babies I was a Travel Agent!
After my first little girl was born I began my own little sewing business where I would hand make baby outfits from vintage fabrics. This was called "Little Haze". This began my interest also in photography and content creation.
I loved sewing but it was really hard with three little ones wanting to grab everything! I moved more and more into photography and I absolutely love it.

What inspires you?
Definitely my babies! They have been my muse for every creative venture so far!
If you could offer new mamas one piece of advice it would be...?
Time is a thief! They grow sooo fast! Stop worrying about the little things that aren't "perfect" and soak in all the memories! Capture as much on photo and film as you can!

What does self-care look like for you? How do you look after yourself?
I love a good Bunnings trip! Strolling through the garden centre is my fav!

- camera
- Phone (instagram addicted)
- Chocolate and Canadian club 🙈

What is do you find the hardest part about being a parent / parent in business?
Mum guilt is a killer. I feel so guilty working all weekend and that I'm not spending it with my family! I need to work towards a better time management system!

What do you want your kids to learn about the world?
I want my kids to travel and explore what they love! I want them to be able to express their own creativity and have their own little personalities.
I want them to experience all the different cultures throughout the world.

And lastly, what’s your favourite part about being a mum?
Their happiness! It's so pure and real! When they laugh and smile.. it's the best!
